QLPA Mission Statement
The Queensland Litter Prevention Alliance (QLPA) aims to assist in the prevention and/or reduction of litter in a number of ways, including:
- Devising strategies and coordinating efforts of all stakeholders involved in litter prevention to focus on changing litter behaviour;
- Systematically preventing and/or reducing the environmental impacts of litter within Queensland;
- Development and implementation of an effective approach to measuring trends in litter management;
- Development and adoption of a Best Management Practice (BMP) approach to enhance the ability of stakeholders, particularly local governments, to take action to prevent and/or reduce litter;
- Development and implementation of optimal litter prevention programmes for Queensland;
- Provide a forum for cooperative discussion and the development of holistic solutions to litter issues in Queensland;
- Development and adoption of a Best Management Practice (BMP) approach to enhance the ability of stakeholders, particularly local governments, to take action to prevent and/or reduce littering behaviour;
- Evaluation of litter prevention and/or litter reduction programs.
